NASA Goddard Space Flight Center has led and supported planetary analog field science campaigns for the last decade focused on addressing fundamental research and testing new instrument technologies.
Sustained investment (ROSES R&A, internal/strategic funding, and mission/project support) has driven integration between geology and astrobiology research efforts and developed a suite of field portable instruments and testing of new concepts of operation
The capabilities developed within GIFT provide a resource unique to NASA and serve the Agency and the external science community by providing routine opportunities for partnership studies of planetary analog terrains and environments that enable ground truth for research hypotheses develop from Mission observations
